About Us
Art Village was conceptualized and created with a passion to preserve the invaluable art forms of Assam and the greater Indian subcontinent. Despite starting with limited resources, Sujit Das, a visionary artist, poured his savings, secured a bank loan and in 2021 amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, successfully launched the art village.
Today, it stands as the largest privately held art gallery and museum in Assam, showcasing a collection of diverse and rare art forms, including manuscripts, sculptures, puppets and masks from different parts of the world.
Vision
Sujit Das, a world-renowned artist and Guiness World record-holder, established the Art Village to bridge the gap between traditional art forms and contemporary audiences. His lifelong journey as a student of the arts, his exposure to international art communities, and his deep connection to Assamese culture have culminated in this creative haven.
The Xattriya, Tai, Rajagharia, and folk art forms of Assam have immense potential to find their place on the global stage.
